A general guideline is one station for every three to four restroom units at an event, with additional stations placed right at food service or bar areas regardless of how the restroom count works out, since that is where people expect to wash up before eating rather than walking across a site to find a sink.

On job sites, hand washing stations serve a different purpose than at events. Crews working with concrete, paint, chemicals, soil, or anything else that gets on the hands need a place to clean up before lunch or before driving home, and a station placed near the break area or site entrance gets used far more than one tucked next to the toilets. Multi-station sites benefit from spreading stations across separate work zones rather than clustering them all in one spot, so nobody has to walk far to reach one.

Servicing runs on the same schedule as the restroom units they accompany. Each visit refills the water tank, restocks soap and paper towels, and empties the wastewater tank so the unit does not run dry or overflow between visits, and we can bump up the frequency for stations that see heavy use.
