What to Know Before Renting a Portable Toilet

The questions to answer before you book so delivery day goes smoothly.

A little preparation before you call makes the whole rental simpler, from getting an accurate quote to a smooth delivery day. Most of what trips people up on rental day comes down to a handful of details that are easy to sort out ahead of time.

Have these details ready

  • The delivery address and a description of where the unit should sit, including any gate codes or access instructions our driver will need.
  • Your start and end dates, including whether you need weekend delivery or pickup, since that affects how we schedule the route.
  • How many people will use the unit and for how many hours a day, so we can recommend the right number of units instead of guessing.
  • Whether you need an accessible unit, a luxury trailer, a hand washing station, or some combination of these for your site or event.
  • Whether the rental is for a single day, a weekend event, or an extended job site or construction stretch, since that changes both the unit choice and the service schedule.

Check the placement spot

The ground should be firm and reasonably level. Grass, gravel, dirt, and pavement all work, but soft, muddy, or steeply sloped ground does not. Our truck needs a clear route in and out for both delivery and every scheduled service visit afterward, so think about driveways, gates, and any obstacles a truck would need to clear. The unit itself should sit away from doors, seating areas, and food service, but still close enough that people actually use it instead of avoiding the walk. It is also worth checking for overhead tree branches, low wires, or anything else that could interfere with placement or with the service truck's access later in the rental.

What happens on delivery day

Someone should be reachable by phone on delivery day in case the crew needs a quick answer about exact placement once they are on site. We will position the unit or units where discussed, level them, and make sure the door swings and locks properly before we leave. If the layout of your event changes between booking and delivery, a quick call ahead of time lets us adjust the plan instead of discovering the issue on site.

Keeping things running through the rental

After delivery, keep the approach to each unit clear so scheduled service visits stay quick and on time. If anything needs attention between visits, whether that is a supply running low, a stuck latch, or ground conditions that have changed, call us rather than waiting for the next scheduled stop. At the end of the rental, make sure the pickup date and access are still accurate so removal goes as smoothly as delivery did.
